Progressive Symptom: Grinding Noise
If you hear grinding, then your brake pads are completely gone. Now, your vehicle is using the metal around the brake pads to stop. That metal, in turn, grinds against the rotors, creating the grinding noise. If your vehicle gets to this level, you're looking at a more expensive brake job. Brake pads and rotors will increase the check-out price, so it's best to bring your vehicle to our dealership as soon as you hear the first sign.
Additional Signs You May Need Brake Service
- Vibration or Pulsation when braking: This is caused by warped rotors
- Soft, Spongy, or Sinking Brake Pedal: This is caused by problems with your brake lines, a brake fluid leak, or a failing master cylinder
- Burning Smell After Braking: Overheated brakes or a stuck caliper can cause a burning smell-(note: if you just installed pads or rotors, you may also have a burning smell during the break-in process)
